Character Profile:  Hannibal
---------------------------------------------
Nathan:
Hello everyone and welcome back to my Halloween edition of Character Profiles.  Now I promised you last time we'd be looking at a certain famous cannibal in horror history and I have kept that promise.     Ladies and gentleman,   I'd like you to give a big warm welcome to Hannibal Lector.

Now you are all  familiar with the Silence Of The Lambs both the book and the movie but allow me to introduce you to the main star of this franchise....Doctor Hannibal 'The Cannibal' Lector,  played in the film by Anthony Hopkins.     He is a very sophisticated man and also rather witty,  he also is genuinely human.

Clarice Starling enlists the help of this gentleman to track down the infamous Jame 'Buffalo Bill' Gumb,  who makes fat women starve,   skins them and makes a suit out of their skin.  Bill's reason for this is because he wants to be a woman himself but he is too disturbed mentally to have the surgery needed for it.

Of course as Sly Stallone said in Demotion Man...you've got to send a maniac to catch one,  and that's where Hannibal comes in.   Hannibal knows how the serial killer game works,  he has seen it all and been there.    So there is no doubt his expertise comes in  handy.

I gotta admit....I approve of Hannibal's tactics and of his personality.  I agree 100% with him on that. That census taker certainly deserved to have his liver eaten with fava beans and a Chianti.   *imitates Hannibal's hissing sound*   That hissing sound was improvised by Hopkins but it was so good that they kept it in.

Silence Of The Lambs was the first horror movie to ever win an Oscar for Best Picture and rightfully so.    I mean it's a masterpiece and I do find myself rooting for good old Hannibal and like I said -  I approve of his tactics.

A census taker once tried to test me as well, but then I killed him...decapitated him and drained him of his blood,  which I had served with a Chianti not unlike Hannibal...mmmm...his blood was delicious...AAAAAAWR! *he roars like the Hessian as his skin turns pale and his eyes turn aquamarine blue,  he licks his lips as he thinks about all the blood drained*  Oops,  sorry.   Got a bit carried away.

Nonetheless it is easy to see why Hannibal Lecter is one of the most well known horror characters in the history of the genre and what makes him such an interesting as well as fascinating person.
If you think the character profiles segments for this month are coming to an end,  think again -  because there are more coming right up.   As we've got several more to come,  i'm Monstermaster13 and now if you excuse me i'm going to do a bit of hunting.
The next installment of character profiles.
